Prepare for Golf Like The Pros

OK, so you are not Phil or Anika…..but, you can still prepare for your next round of golf like a pro does. Imagining that you are preparing for a golf tournament instead of just a causal game, will help to create a pattern of your best golf!

Here is some helpful advice …

Many tournament players start the day with either seeing their Chiropractor or spinal stretching like The 10 Minute CushionTM. It warms up the muscles and the ligaments sending information to the joints preparing them for the violent swings and 18 holes of walking to prevent injuries. Stretches can not only help in lowering your score, it will also help you avoid some common golf injuries, especially as your body ages.

The day of the tournament also begins with some time on the practice tee awakening your golf patterns. Before addressing the ball, take your favorite clubs and remind your body how they feel and re-establish positioning. This will warm up your muscles, ligaments and the joints adding to muscle memory.

Get ready to finally connect with the ball. On a non-rushed day, start with the wedge to awaken the swing pattern, following up with an iron. Close your eyes and feel your technique naturally guiding your body through the motions. Open your eyes, visualize the course and picture your play. Breathe and follow thru.

A Great game is only eluded by the putter! Make sure putting is given its time. “Hit for Show, Putt for Dough”. Find a hole on the practice green that has a slope. Then take 5/6 balls and spread them in a start pattern around the hole about 3 feet away. Practice putting from further and further away as well. As much as you practice killing the ball, we must show patience and slow down for putting. Learning to read the angles of the green as well as important as wind speed. Once again don’t forget to breathe.

Maybe someday you will be winning that tournament because of your preparation. Its easier when you played it before!
